What has your company produced? For what studios or networks? My company has worked on only a few larger projects. I was a script doctor at first for Paramount and for private companies. I won awards for writing before becoming a director.
What genres are you looking for? We like witchcraft; science fiction based in modern day towns, a la Stranger Things. We like teenage series drama. Not really into cop series unless, of course it’s fantastic like the first season of True Detective. Currently, I was thinking a young person drama of a young guy in a ghetto who breaks free of his social constraints, but as a series. I like Donnie Darko, Lost in Translation, small beautiful stories with an element of the weirdness of the cities the characters inhabit.
Film, TV, New Media, Other? Film, TV, and YouTube channel, short form for Vimeo.
Budget range? Low – to mid
What makes the ideal writer for your company? We want writers that can churn out ideas that we can shoot easily and on a budget for Netflix and Amazon platforms.
What are your goals for the Great American PitchFest? To meet other like-minded people and hopefully find a few projects we can shoot easily and cheaply.
Have you had success at pitching events before? Yes, last year I was here as an agent and found a few projects we took on.
Do you have any GAPF success stories you can share with us from previous years? I’ve only come to GAPF for two years but the agency I worked for made a deal for a series based off one of the pitches she heard at ScriptFest. it sold to HBO.
Is there any advice you would like to offer the writers who are pitching you? Just be yourself. I’m just like you. Just started my own company to sell projects more easily and produce them. Be relaxed, I’m not CAA. I’m more Quentin Tarantino on a budget. I love great writing, but try to have a solid logline. It doesn’t have to been formal at all. I’m easy to talk to.
