What has your company produced? For what studios or networks? Described by Variety as “one of the founders of the modern American independent film movement,” I have worked extensively in both independent and studio filmmaking worlds.  After organizing “American Mavericks” a seminal independent film festival in 1979, he joined indie distributor Libra Films and later United Artists Classics working with such filmmakers as David Lynch (ERASERHEAD), John Sayles (RETURN OF THE SECAUCUS 7) and Peter Greenaway (THE DRAUGHTSMAN’S CONTRACT).  In the mid 80’s he took the helm of New York’s annual Independent Feature Film Market, achieving new levels of attendance and profitability.  Kitt joined Universal Pictures Film Acquisitions Department in 1989, bringing Spike Lee’s DO THE RIGHT THING to the studio that same year.  Kitt eventually moved to Production side where he continued to work with Mr. Lee as well as such filmmakers as Steven Soderbergh (KING OF THE HILL), Richard Linklater (DAZED AND CONFUSED) and Ron Howard (FAR AND AWAY). In 1997 Kitt became President of Spike Lee’s 40 Acres and a Mule Filmworks where he produced such films at THE BEST MAN, LOVE AND BASKETBALL, 3AM, GOOD FENCES and SUCKER FREE CITY. In 2005 Mr. Kitt formed Future Films where he is developing several film and television projects including CHERRY, which debuted at the 2010 South by Southwest Film Festival and THE HOUSE THAT JACK BUILT which premiered at the 2015 Los Angeles Film Festival.
